KARACHI, Aug 24: Three people were gunned down in separate acts of violence in different parts of Orangi Town on Friday, police said.

They said that the first incident took place in Qasba Colony within the remit of the Pirabad police station where armed men opened fire on a meat shop, leaving shop owner Sameer, 27, a woman, Gul Marine, 28, and 10-year-old Anum wounded.

They were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Sameer died while others were admitted for treatment.

Shortly afterwards, in another incident unknown men opened fire on a minibus near Qasba Mor in Orangi Town within the remit of the same Pirabad police station, leaving four people, including a police constable, wounded.

The suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, fled from the scene following the shooting.

The wounded were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Niaz Khan, 35, died. Constable Azhar Arbab and two others who sustained bullet wounds were admitted for treatment.

Following the incidents tension gripped the locality, which reverberated with the sound of heavy firing. Extra police contingents were sent to the troubled area to avert any further law and order breakdown.

Meanwhile, a young man was targeted in Aligarh Colony within the remit of the Orangi Town police station.

Police said that the victim, later identified as Fazal Zamir Khan, 35, was sitting outside his house in Aligarh Bazaar when unknown assailants shot him dead.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died before he could be taken to a hospital.

An area police officer said that the three targeted killing incidents appeared to be related.

Man shot dead

A man was shot dead inside his house in Frontier Colony on Friday.

Police said that the incident took place near Farooqui Masjid in Frontier Colony where unknown men barged into the house of Noor Malik and shot him dead.

The victim was a trader and the killing took place due to some personal enmity, the police said, adding that the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Elderly man killed

An elderly man was shot dead in the Manghopir area on Friday.

Police said that the incident took place in Pakhtunabad within the remit of the Manghopir police station.

They said that armed men fired shots at Abdul Qayyum, 60, who was sitting outside his house.

Manghopir SHO Shams Zaman said that the victim belonged to the Mehsud tribe and the killing appeared to be linked with a tribal feud.
