TOWNSVILLE: India won the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the third time, beating Australia by six wickets behind captain Unumkt Chand’s 111 not out on Sunday.
Australia made 225-8 after being sent in to bat, with captain William Bosisto scoring 87 not out. India started strongly, then collapsed to 97-4 before Chand guided the winners to 227-4 in the 48th over.
Chand, who hit seven fours and six sixes, shared in a 130-run partnership with Smit Patel (62 not out), who hit the winning runs with eight balls remaining. Australia, who also have three under-19 World Cup titles, had never lost a final in the tournament.
India 227-4 in 47.4 overs (Unumkt Chand 111 not out, Smit Patel 62 not out; Joel Paris 1-33), def. Australia 225-8 (William Bosisto 87 not out; Sandeep Sharma 4-54) by six wickets.
I would like to thank the many Pakistani people who have congratulated India.
I would also like to tell the Pakistani people that India has many millions of people who love and respect the likes of Wasim Akram, Shoaib, Imran and others.
There has always been a genuine respect for the Pakistani cricket side which was considered a team with a fighting spirit.
So, those of the people on the other side of the border who think that Indians cant support Pakistani players are very wrong.
Its a different question,that many Indians would never come out openly with there love for Pakistani cricketers.
How it would be if we would have leaved in undivided india with 5 times champians with current Indian Master batsman paying for run and pakistani bowler bowling with leathel action? Kash…. just a quaish

I saw the match between India and Pakistan U 19, to me that was more enjoyable and critical too, Pakistan almost won the game! They could have easily been the World Champions, Hats off to them,

The main reason behind performance depreciation of pakistani sport is bad politics, money, references and existing govt. All sports bodies, authorites, federations, clubs are back and managed by dirty politicians.

No Sorry India does not take it that way. Pakistan is just another cricketing nation for us. For now Australia, South Africa and England are also powerful as Pakistan. We won the world cup only by beating Australa.

Pakistan and India are heading towards opposite direction. One (Pakistan) is going down towards drain by introducing politics in every sport(Cricket both senior and U-19 etc, Hockey, Squash, Football, Boxing, Wrestling) and other(India) is forwarding through talents and clean image (except Hockey).
Grass is always greener on the other side of the court. Every Indian sports federation is being ruined by politics. If our players have done better than Pakistan doesn’t mean that we have clean sports organizations. BCCI is being run better than other sport bodies in India. But, they too are running after money.
Thats what happenes when people become stronger than institutions and the country..corruption is like cancer…only india is much bigger that its more difficult to corrupt everything, and now people are responding..hope imran khan does the same in pakistan..only then things will improve…talent in all fields must come up and must be supported to succeed at international level!!

Tell you the secret – most of the time we do not trust our papers for what they are saying. Then- we like to know how the situation is being from across the border. Add and divide by two – we think- we are close to reality. Otherwise too- Dawn site is good – very user friendly!

I come to dawn for their prespective. pakistan usually has a propagandic view on almost everything on India. Dawn fortunately is more honest and logical so I like to think most pakistanis are like the Dawn readers and not all mullahs wanting to destroy India.

1. Dawn is probably the best source of objective reporting and news from Pakistan
2. Indians are doing well and so are naturally curious as to what Pakistanis think about India’s progress.
3. And finally sheer numbers: There are roughly 3.5 times more Indians than Pakistanis and probably 10-15 times more when you compare English speaking populations.

If you are praising with Comments section in mind, then keep in mind that TOI and other Indian news comments section is Filled with pakistanis spamming about Religious hate towards India with obscene language. And not just Pakistanis from pakistan but pakistanis from around the world.
And Look at the Indian comments at Dawn. You will see the difference. Indian newspaper comments section would be wonderful to read if only there was logical and intellectual thoughtput there by pakistanis.

That’s true, and you would understand if you visited say the Times of India website. Seriously, have you seen that site? It’s like badly managed soft porn. Indian Express and Hindu are great newspapers, but going throught their websites is like watching peeling paint. Dawn has a great layout, good presentation, and most of all, great content. Why wouldn’t I want to visit and comment? Yes, you get the thoughtful ones, you get the hyper nationalists, you get the bigots, the combative ones and the ones that don’t comment at all. But that’s true of any site which allows comments. We just have to filter out the crazies from our consciousness!
I personally prefer dawn because it is a high quality newspaper from the subcontinent. They try to analyze issues in a balanced way. Indian online newspapers are crazy , eye-ball grabbing monsters who thrive on sensational, vulgar and meaningless news items. It is understandable. Everyone has to earn money. They were good 20 years ago, but no longer. It is always what, where , when, never why.
Apart from that, you can read the dawn in a detached manner as it does not concern India. Reading Indian sites is like being hit by a plethora of emotions, mostly negative.
Lastly the Indian mainstream newspapers are pro-ruling party with a vengeance. They are highly unethical people with vested interests.
Dawn is a great newspaper. The quality of columns is about the best that you can get. Most of the columns are very open and critical. Most writers in Dawn seem to want a secular Pakistan. Pakistan is a happening place, not always for the right reasons. Indins are worried about Pakistan getting into instability again. The Pakistani bloggers in Dawn write extremely well, are well informed, most fair and are the ones who give Indians any hope of friendship with Pakistan. Lastly, as my wife complains, Dawn is addictive.
