KHAR: A government official says dozens of militants coming from Afghanistan have attacked an anti-Taliban militia post in northwest Pakistan for the third day, sparking fighting that killed one soldier and 20 militants.

Jahangir Azam Wazir says in addition to the dead, four soldiers and four militiamen were wounded in Sunday’s attack in Bajaur tribal region.

He said four soldiers, six militiamen and 38 militants were killed during the attacks on Friday and Saturday.

Pakistan has criticized Afghan and US-led coalition forces for not doing enough to stop cross-border attacks by Taliban militants.

The coalition killed a senior Pakistani Taliban commander in an airstrike Friday in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, across from Bajaur.

The US and Afghanistan have long criticized Pakistan for failing to prevent militants attacking in the opposite direction.
