During day two of the US Open on Tuesday, 28th August, there were few upsets bar Guillermo Garcia-Lopez’s win against Juan Monaco – after losing the first two sets, he came back with three straight sets, winning the match 3-6, 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (3).
Andy Roddick eased past compatriot Rhyne Williams with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 win. 2000 and 2001 winner Venus Williams beat Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-3, 6-1; Novak Djokovic breezed past Paolo Lorenzi with a 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 win while Serena Williams defeated Coco Vandeweghe 6-1, 6-1.
