CHAKWAL, Aug 29: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) popularity graph is fast declining in Chakwal as young workers and leaders have started to quit to show their disapproval of Imran Khan’s policies.

On Sunday two young leaders Chaudhry Mohsin Ali Khan and Asad Ali Shah left the party along with scores of supporters. A second blow came on Tuesday when influential politician Raja Sanaul Haq also announced his decision to leave the party during a press conference, along with several of his associates.

Raja Sana attributes his decision to join PTI to the Minar-i-Pakistan show.

“The Minar-i-Pakistan show really impressed me and I thought that Imran Khan would really bring change, but as time went on Khan Sahib – who appeared to be a man of principles – became involved in power politics, which has really disappointed me,” he said.

He further said: “Khan Sahib used to claim that he would not develop into a dirty politician like Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, whom he has now allied with.”

Raja Sana is a close relative of current Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, who is his younger brother Raja Azeem’s father-in-law.

He said he was offered the slot of adviser to prime minister which he refused in order to stay with PTI.

He said that he joined PTI despite the opposition of his family members because PTI emerged as a sole ray of hope for the country’s future. “Previous politicians did not bring any change and they are now in the front rows of PTI.”

Raja Sana began his political career under the PPP banner during Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s era and switched to PML-N in the early nineties. He then quit PML-N and joined PTI. Sources have informed Dawn that he will re-join PPP soon.
