Rangers crack down on drug racket; two killed, several arrested

KARACHI: Rangers arrested several criminals and drug dealers, including two Taliban, after launching a targeted operation in Karachi’s Landhi area, DawnNews reported.

The operation was targeted to crack down the group of drug dealers. During the operation, the Rangers faced armed resistance from the criminals.

Two suspects were killed and two Rangers officials were injured during the clash. While a pedestrian woman lost her life in the exchange of fire.

The Rangers officials found large amount of drugs and weapons during the operation.

After the operation, the Rangers cordoned off the area and arrested around two dozen of the alleged criminals.

The suspects have been shifted to an unknown place for investigation.

Rangers sources said that two militants from Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were also arrested during the operation.

Meanwhile, Police in Maripur arrested six alleged criminals and confiscated four hand-grenades, six pistols from them.

Four alleged criminals were also arrested from Mominabad.

    • Hats off to Pakistan Rangers.They are doing a good job in Karachi.They should be given a free hand to raid various localities to root out Criminals and terrorists.rangers are well trained and well armed then Police.Police is tainted with crime and cohesion with the criminals.police officials are appointed by political elements in the government.if police was honest and hard working there would be no criminal and terrorist in the country and specially Karachi.They are under paid and poorly armed that is why some police officers and Jawans stay away from trouble spots not to get killed for merely Rs 10.000 salary and no benefits.police reforms are needed badly.
