Erratic traffic

BREAKING the law is now a matter of routine. People on Karachi’s streets do so more often than not.

Some years ago it was unthinkable for anyone to enter a one-way thoroughfare from the wrong side. It is now rampant. People can be seen driving on the wrong side  sometimes in the presence of the traffic police. This disregard of the law has been the cause of accidents.

The police alone cannot solve the traffic problem. Citizens too have to play their role.

COMMENTS

  1. I would like to take this opportunity to point out the troubles on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, D.H.A. This road has recently been converted into a one-way road. However, due to lack of traffic police and strict laws, people keep driving the wrong way on this road. Since there are no signals for the lawbreakers, it has become a very dangerous situation. It has also been causing unnecessary traffic jams. The only thing that has happened here is that the value of all the plots on this road have risen as they now have private lanes. How much will the people suffer at the hands of such tyrants?

  2. Violation of laws has become a norm for Pakistanis simply because the very people responsible for safeguarding the laws are themselves violators. I have witnessed with my own eyes Police, Rangers and the armed forces personel violating traffic laws.

  3. Traffic in a countrfy reflects the mental condition of the people who live there.
