LAHORE, Sept 3: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Monday wrote to various political parties, inviting them to unfold their economic agendas and share it with businessmen.

In a letter to heads of the Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and the Awami National Party, LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Senior Vice-President Kashif Younis Meher and Vice-President Saeeda Nazar said the political debate and economic policy considerations required convergence at this critical juncture when the country was witnessing closure of businesses and lay-offs, a sharp decline in investment and a surge in crime rate and inflation.

LCCI office-bearers said Pakistan was in dire need of stability in policymaking and strong institutions and political parties would have to come up with well-tailored economic agendas to achieve this objective. To compete with great nations of the world, they said, the country needed a selfless and visionary leadership at all tiers.
