LAHORE, Sept 7: A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Friday with a prayer to fix Rs300,000 as maximum limit of expenditure for the candidates contesting annual elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Barrister Zafarullah Khan of the Watan Party filed the petition, saying the candidates spent millions of rupees on the election to secure victory.

He said candidates after winning the election started serving their vested interests.

The petitioner said huge spending in the election activity had made the participation impossible for those having less money. He prayed to the court to restrain candidates from spending more than Rs300,000 in the annual elections of the SCBA. — Staff Reporter
