LAHORE, Sept 7: The Punjab Group of Colleges has clinched 11 top positions including two overall top positions in the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s intermediate annual examination for 2012.

The Government College University and the Kinnaird College for Women earned five positions each including a shared overall top position.

The Government College for Women, Warburton, Nankana Sahib also bagged two positions.

The names of position-holders were declared at Lahore board’s examination centres’ auditorium on Friday evening. The intermediate results will be declared at the medal-awarding ceremony for top position-holders at Alhamra Hall-II, The Mall, on Saturday (today) at 10am.

The names of top scorers were declared by Lahore board chairman Nasrullah Virk who was accompanied by Controller of Examinations Anwar Farooq and Board Secretary Dr Muzaffar Iqbal Chishti.

According to the list of position-holders, Amina Riaz of Punjab College for Women, 27-C Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore bagged overall top position with 1,029 marks out of 1,100 marks. She also bagged first position in pre-engineering group among girls.

Muhammad Umer of Government College University and Zabreen Tahir of Kinnaird College for Women shared overall second position with 1,028 marks each. Umer and Zabreen also bagged first position in pre-engineering group among boys and pre-medical group among girls, respectively.

Fatima Khurshid of Punjab College for Women, 27-C Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore secured overall third position with 1,027 marks.

She also bagged second position in pre-engineering group among girls.

According to group-wise positions, Maryam Tahir of Unique Higher Secondary School for Girls, 113-A New Muslim Town, Wahdat Road, Lahore bagged second position in pre-medical group among girls with 1,024 marks.

Sarah Arif of Kinnaird College for Women and Aimen Anwar of Punjab College for Women, 27-C Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore shared third position in pre-medical group among girls with 1,021 marks each.

In pre-medical group among boys, Zamad Gillani of Government College University clinched first position with 1,025 marks, Ahmar Saleem of Punjab College of Science, 151-Ferozepur Road, Lahore second with 1,017 marks and Awais Raza of Government College University third with 1,016 marks.

In pre-engineering group among girls, Afeerah Javed Khan of Kinnaird College for Women earned third position with 1,023 marks.

In pre-engineering group among boys, Najam Tariq of Government College University got second position with 1,026 marks, Mughees Ahmad Hashmi of Punjab College of Science, 151-Ferozepur Road, Lahore bagged third position with 1,022 marks.

In general science group among girls, Komal Siddiqui and Fatima Qamar of Kinnaird College for Women secured first and second positions with 988 and 974 marks, respectively.

Janeeta Raj of Punjab College for Women, 27-C Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore got third position with 971 marks.

In general science group among boys, Muhammad Aamir Eyyaz, Naeem-ur-Rehman and Rizwan Liaqat of Government College University secured top three positions with 961, 954 and 946 marks, respectively.

In commerce group among girls, Afreen Malik and Khalida Muzaffar of Punjab College for Women, 27-C Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore bagged first and second positions with 964 and 960 marks, respectively.

Mahnoor Fawad, a private candidate from Lahore district, secured third position with 956 marks.

In commerce group among boys, Zohaib Siddiqui, Haris Farooq and Syed Jabbar Hussain Shah of Punjab College for Commerece, 29 Noon Avenue, Muslim Town, Lahore clinched top three positions with 986, 966 and 965 marks, respectively.

In humanities group among girls, Amara Yousuf and Atifa Mansoor of Government College for Women, Warburton, Nankana Sahib secured first and second positions with 951 and 944 marks, respectively. Hafiza Tayyaba Javaid of Iqra Huffaz Girls Higher Secondary School, 01 Tipu Block, New Garden Town, Lahore bagged third position with 940 marks.

In humanities group among boys, Waleed Khalid, a private candidate from Lahore district, clinched first position with 908 marks.

Muhammad Abu Bakar Ajeeb, a private candidate from Kasur district, secured second position with 907 marks. Muhammad Ahmad Shafqat of Government Higher Secondary School, 40/3R, Okara got third position with 899 marks.
