Most publishing companies prefer a paperback or 'softcover' book to be limited to 100-120 pages. 150-200 pages is pushing the unpublished author risk vs reward factor.
You could change the title to American Shopper.

Suggest the author invest in the softcover book:
Writing Commercial Fiction by John Stevenson (120 pages)
Prentice-Hall 1983.

If you are J..K. Rowling or Stephen King there's no need.

I think you'll find incorporating other people's views with your own is called doing background research, Evlyn. As far as the book is concerned, it is a fascinating insight into the mental anatomy of a calm, calculated murderer who has been driven to his misdeeds due to the complete lack of social cohesion and morality. Moreover, as Ms. Khursheed astutely points out, this insanity hinges on the loss of identity brought about by the 80's excessive "yuppie" culture. Furthermore, Ellis also analyses how the male psyche is deeply troubled through the rise of females in the workplace during the era; and finally the shocking disparity between the Wall Street ultra-elite and the abject poverty which exists in so many third world nations. Read the book, honey.

Sorry. You're right. It was my first review and I really didn't know you couldn't do that. Thank you though. The first review is by Johnathan Yardley

The second is by John Leo. Additionally, I do not think it is edgy and cool [although I don't know why thinking that about the book is wrong] I think that it is an alternative way of expressing criticism about the world we live in.

You can't quote 'reviewers' without pointing to who they are, and you certainly can't aggregate other people's opinion and call it a review. This is amateur book reviewing. Ms. Khursheed is probably some college girl who thinks this book is 'cool' because its so edgy and different.

I read half of this book and it looked more like a journal of a brand obsessed executive. The plot was barely visible and entire book is overloaded with brands of various products along with their prices and descriptions that go on and on and on.... it would have been a great read if it was a 150-200 page Novella... the bulk of the book makes it loose impact!
