BAHAWALPUR Sept 10: According to reports being received from Cholistan, light but intermittent showers hit the desert areas on Sunday.

Dawn has learnt that due to the rains, ponds (tobas) at some of the places in desert like Bijnot, Maujgarh, Plundri, Kala Pahar and Meerwah were filled with rainwater, providing relief to human population and their livestock.

The water thus accumulated would be used during the coming months by the locals and their animals.

The rain will also spur the growth of vegetation in the desert that would provide fodder to the livestock.
