HYDERABAD, Sept 11: President of the Awami Jamhori Party (AJP) Abrar Qazi has said the Sindh People’s Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO-2012) should be repealed.

Announcing support to the Sept 13 strike call of Sindh Bachayo Committee against the SPLGO, he said the people of Sindh believed the PPP and the MQM were working against the province and people had not voted for them to divide Sindh.

Addressing a press conference at the office of Awami Jamhori Party on Tuesday, he described the SPLGO as a nefarious plan made by the MQM to divide Sindh and PPP leaders were part of this conspiracy for the sake of power.

The people of Sindh knew that the MQM was always involved in this plan as wall chalking of Mohajir Sooba was done in big cities and the Sindh Medical College was named as Jinnah Medical University. He said these decisions had hurt Sindhi people.

“We are true heirs of Sindh and we reject the SPLGO which would divide Sindh. It should be repealed forthwith,” he said.

He said historical villages of Sindhi people would be demolished as former Nazim of Karachi Mustafa Kamal had demolished villages of Sikandar, Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Allah Rakhio Burfat and others. “We have seen bloodshed in demolition drive in Karachi,” he said, adding that the SPLGO would give a licence to the MQM to demolish Sindhi localities even in Hyderabad.
