FAISALABAD, Sept 11: Three people, including two policemen, were killed and a constable sustained injuries in two encounters that took place in the limits of Jhang Bazaar police on Tuesday.

Gulfishan police-post constables on being informed of robbery in Hamedpura besieged the house where the outlaws opened fire on them. Resultantly, constables Anwar and Afzal were killed while another constable Iqbal suffered bullet injuries.

The injured constable was taken to hospital.

The police said just a few hours after killing of two constables, they set up pickets in different localities. The policemen signalled two motorcyclists near Judgewala picket.

The bikers did not stop and opened fire on police. During a crossfire, suspect Shahbaz was killed on the spot while his accomplice managed to escape. — Staff Correspondent
