ISLAMABAD, Sept 12: The judicial selection board of Islamabad High Court (IHC) has recommended the names of nine candidates for additional sessions judges (ASJ) of which six belong to Islamabad.

According to the notification issued by the IHC registrar Niaz Mohammad Khan the three out of nine nominees belong to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Sindh.

The six Islamabad based ASJs included Raja Khurram Ali, Abida Sajjad, Zeba Chaudhry, Mohammad Jehangir, Rafaqat Ahmed Khan Awan and Raja Asif Mehmood.

The other three nominees included Rakhshanda Shaheen (Punjab), Mohammad Adnan (Sindh) and Sikandar Khan (KP).

The three-member judicial selection board comprising two IHC judges Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan and Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi and registrar IHC Niaz Mohammad Khan sent the names of nine candidates to the IHC Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman for their appointment as ASJs in BPS-20.

It may be pertinent to mention that National Testing Service (NTS) after conducting exam of about 300 candidates for the posts of ASJs declared 48 as qualified.

The selection board conducted the interviews of all the successful candidates from Monday to Tuesday and finally sent the recommendations to the IHC CJ on Wednesday.

NTS also declared 252 candidates successful for the 20 posts of civil judges. The judicial board is currently conducting interviews of 178 out of the 252 successful candidates.
