LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday directed party leadership to start the preparation for the next general elections in the country, DawnNews reported.

President Zardari was addressing a meeting over political situation of Punjab which attended by Governor Punjab Latif Khosa, Deputy Prime Minister Pevez Elahi, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira and other prominent leaders.

The president said that the party will not issue tickets to the parliamentarians who have shown poor performance.

Zardari said that he hoped that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will form its government in centre and Punjab with the help of allied parties.

Earlier on Thursday speaking with BBC Urdu, Zardari said the next elections will take place on the set time.

He said that the opposition parties will not get a chance to criticise as the government would ensure transparent elections.

He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will have complete autonomy and authority during the period. Adding that, the government will comply with the demands of the ECP.

COMMENTS

  1. United Nation should send observer to all Muslim and Third World countries to observe the fair election and then report to the UN to justify the government

  2. “The president said that the party will not issue tickets to the parliamentarians who have shown poor performance”. Look, who is talking.

  3. Fair election are impossible in Pakistan, PPP government can easily manipulate Election commision and cast bogus votes, Since Elections are not fair and people are so illitirate then Pakistan does not deserve any democracy.

    • Please do not get disappointed. Every single effort counts, whether we see it or not. Atleast educate ourselves in matters concerning us and people around us. Make lots of Dua. Its needed more than ever before.

  4. Logic Europe;

    Incorrect logic, our electoral process does not require majority that the winner acquire a majority of votes from his/her constituency, just more than any other candidate.

  5. Pakistan should have an independent EC.No military rule but real democracy.

  6. I think president asif ali zardari is dreaming to form the next government

  7. fair election means election of people who a majority of people choose in a particular constituancy.
    you have to lear to respect the will of majority…FAIR election doesn’t mean that only candidate of your choice will win IF people choose ppp and ZARDARI ,then he is the leader and he makes the government

  8. Oh Mr. Zardari, please spare us. 4 years of your rule, that is all we can handle.

  9. how it is possible to have a fair election in pakistan, when the president only works for his own political party not for all pakistanis.all over the world, once somebody becomes president of a country, then they stop party meetings in the president house.they attend party’s own office if party required it.how come that president is attending peoples party public meeting on federal govt.expenses.this also applies to provincial governors.actually there is no rule of law in pakistan.
