ISLAMABAD: A list of witnesses linked to the contempt of court case against real estate tycoon Malik Riaz was submitted before the Supreme Court by Attorney General Irfan Qadir, DawnNews reported on Saturday.

The name of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is also among the witnesses, along with former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, CJP’s son Arsalan Iftikhar, Registrar Supreme Court Dr Faqir Hussain and Malik Riaz’s son-in-law Salman Ahmed.

The AG, also the prosecutor in the case, was asked by the SC to submit the list on August 29 in order to proceed with Bahria Town chief’s trial for contempt of court after he put forth questions in front of the apex court in a press conference in June.

Formal contempt proceedings in the case will be resumed by the apex court on Monday, September 17.
