ISLAMABAD, Sept 18: The city police separately arrested two persons on the charges of trying to enter the high security red zone with a pen pistol and a tampered entry pass.

Police surveillance mounted in the area as part of security arrangements during Prime Minster Raja Pervez Ashraf’s appearance in the Supreme Court intercepted the two men at Kohsar Complex and Ayub Chowk.

One of the suspects - FK - was caught at the Kohsar Complex checkpost when he tried to enter the red zone in a pick-up loaded with construction material.

When the police asked for documents to enter the area, he produced an entry pass, especially issued for such occasions by the police.

However, the police found that the card was a photo copy and tampered with the date of its validity.

During interrogation, the suspect told the police that he was the driver of a construction company engaged at Sindh House.

During verification, it was revealed that the card had originally been issued to someone else but the suspect made its photo copy and was using it.

The accused was shifted to the Secretariat police station where he was booked for forgery.

The other suspect - MM - was intercepted at Ayub Chowk and the pen pistol along with 10 bullets were recovered from him.

He said he was a native of Dera Ghazi Khan and was working as a construction labourer at Pak Secretariat’s B Block.

However, he failed to satisfy the police about carrying the pen pistol.

The pen pistol is a harmful weapon but is not registered with the arms’ licence issuing authority, the police added.

He was also put behind bars after registration of a case against him.
