Indian Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh said that India must hold on to the "strategically important" Siachen Glacier, DawnNews reported.

"These positions are of strategic importance and we have given our concerns to the Government and now it is for the Government to decide," Gen Bikram Singh said in a media interaction in Delhi, PTI reported.

Gen Singh said that the Indian Army has not changed its views on the importance of the strategic heights which have been occupied by them since 1984.

The Indian army chief said that the army had made its opinion be known to the government, who will make the final decision on the issue.
