RAWALPINDI, Sept 23: The Railway Police, who found a passenger’s bag containing large quantity of gold ornaments and cash, returned the bag to its owner on Sunday, the police said.

Mehboob Elahi, who was travelling with his family on Pakistan Express train from Karachi to Rawalpindi, lost his bag containing gold ornaments and cash, while disembarking from the train.

On reaching home, he realised that he had lost his bag containing six gold bangles, two gold rings and gold necklace valuing Rs 500,000.

Mehboob Elahi rushed to the Railway Police Station and lodged a complaint with the station house officer, Javaid Iqbal.

In the meantime, railway police staff brought an unclaimed bag to the police station; which they found lying in the passenger train.

The bag was opened in the presence of the police, after Mehboob Elahi claimed that it was his bag and he identified the articles lying in it.

Later the gold bangles and cash were handed over to Mehboob Elahi in the light of court orders.

Inspector General of Railway police, Syed Ibne Hussain announced a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for the railway police employees who recovered the lost baggage and later it was returned to its owner.
