THIS is with reference to the news that the Higher Education Commission has devised a new policy for tuition fee refund. While the role of the HEC in this regard is commendable, the issue of admission fee remains unresolved. Private universities have been charging Rs30,000 to Rs50,000 as admission fee. If a student wishes to cancel his admission, he is only refunded the security fee, which is a meagre amount as compared to the total admission fee charged by the university.
The HEC should also devise a policy regarding the admission fee to ease the financial burden on the parents who are already sacrificing a lot to get their children educated.
