LAHORE, Sept 24: Factory Area investigation police claimed on Monday to have solved two murder cases, one of these apparently committed during a robbery, arresting six people, including two female suspects.

Cantonment SP (Investigation) Fida Hussain told a news conference at his office that a police team working on a murder-robbery case in Gulistan Colony arrested two neighbours of the victim, salma Bibi. According to the SP, Zubair and Kashif Ali strangled Salma at her house on Sept 8, 2012 and took away her gold jewellery.

He said the suspects confessed to police that they got tempted to commit the crime after seeing salma’s gold jewellery and planned to kill her. He said police recovered the looted jewellery form the accused.

The SP said another team investigating the case of kidnap and murder of Muhammad Taufail took into custody the victim’s wife Sajida, her paramour Muhammad Saleem (main accused) and her parents -- Muhammad Ashraf and Amina.

He said the suspects confessed to kidnapping Taufail on Sept 9, 2012, killing him and dumping his body in a canal near Deepalpur the same day.

He said according to investigators, Sajida wanted to get rid of Taufail and contract second marriage with Saleem, while her parents helped her execute the plan.

He said the local police recovered Tufail’s decomposed body from canal and placed it in the morgue for want of identification.
