HYDERABAD, Sept 25: Hindu teenager Ajay Kumar was recovered on Tuesday by a joint team of the Tando Allahyar and Thatta police. Ajay had been kidnapped on with his father, Sewa Ram, on July 16 in Tando Allahyar district.

Mr Ram owns a grocery shop in the Pyaro Lund area and lives in Tando Allahyar.

The father and son were kidnapped with their servant when they were returning from Pyaro Lund. The employee was later released near Channel Mori, in Hyderabad city area.

Tando Allahyar SSP Khalid Mustafa said that Mr Ram was released on Sept 1 by the kidnappers for arranging a ransom.

But he did not meet his family for fear of kidnappers. Only when the police recovered his son, Mr Ram approached the police to share his story.

The hostages were kept in hideouts in the Mula Katyar area of Hyderabad for around 18 days after which they were moved on a donkey cart to Sujawal in Thatta district.

Ajay was kept in the Anarki Bund area in Sujawal.

The police have so far caught eight suspects who include Pandhi Mari, Ali Hassan Mari, Bashir, Shabbir, Mahram and Ghulam Rasool Narejo. Narejo and two more men are in the custody of the Thatta police while the rest are with the Tando Allahyar police.

Our Sanghar correspondent adds: Khipro city remained closed on Tuesday after two Hindus were kidnapped from near Tagoosar village on Sunday night.

Dr Wasdev Mal and Sheevo Mal were returning from Hyderabad in a taxi car when they were abducted.

The Hindhu Panchayat, traders and Jiay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Arisar group (JSQM-A) called for a strike on Tuesday.

A large number of people gathered at the Shaheed Chowk Khipro and staged a sit in. They were led by the central vice president of JSQM-A, Dr Meer Alam Mari, Hindhu Panchayat’s leader, Mukhi Mohan Lal, and others.
