ISLAMABAD: Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Admiral (R) Fasih Bokhari on Wednesday decided to file references against former top officials of Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and Pakistan Railways.

The Executive Board of NAB took the decision during a meeting held here. Under the decision, the NAB decided to file a reference against Tauqir Sadiq, Ex-Chairman OGRA, Mansoor Ali Muzaffar, Member Gas, Mir Kamal Farid Bijarani, Member Finance OGRA and Jawad Jamil, SO to former Chairman OGRA.

The accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority, embezzlement and loss to national exchequer to the tune of Rs 44.57 billion by converting operating income into non-operating income in violation of the agreement signed with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank, relocation of CNG stations, illegal appointments, etc.

In another case, the Board decided to file a reference against Sami-ul-Haq Khilji, former Secretary Pakistan Railways, Saeed Akhtar, General-Manager (GM) Operations, Pakistan Railways and six other accused persons.

In this case, the accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority and embezzlement of Rs 578 million; and Rs 351 million by awarding a contract of maintenance and procurement of spare parts of 69 Chinese Locomotives to two Chinese firms.

The Board approved Voluntary Return (VR) of Rs 3.663 million based on the request from 15 officials of the PWD. The accused persons were alleged for misappropriation and embezzlement in the salaries of work charge employees of PWD, Lahore, during 1994 to 2004.

The Board authorized an inquiry against Divine Developers (Pvt) Ltd Lahore, a reference forwarded by the Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), pursuant to section 31-D of national accountability ordinanc (NAO) 1999, where the accused directors of the firm were alleged of willful loan default amounting to Rs 505.009 million from the Bank of Punjab.
