NEW YORK: Afghan President Hamid Karzai met President Asif Ali Zardari in New York on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

The two leaders considered ways to improve bilateral relations and regional situation.

On the occasion of UN General Assembly in New York, President Zardari said that Afghanistan and Pakistan have common problems.

Moreover, he said that stable and prosperous Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest.

President Zardari also expressed concern over attacks on security forces across the border.

Both the leaders emphasised on joint efforts to solve the problems which both the countries were facing and also to cooperate for the peace in the region.

Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmay Rasool, Afghan Peace Council Chief, Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Advisor on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain and Pakistan's Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman were also present in the meeting.
