KARACHI: Karachi Electric Supply Company’s (KESC) winning streak came to a halt after Habib Bank Limited’s (HBL) Dilawar Hussain pulled of a string of superb saves to keep the league leaders at bay in their Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) overcame Afghan FC 1-0, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) thumped Wohaib FC 3-0 while PMC Athletico were held to a 1-1 draw by Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL).

At the People’s Sports Complex here, HBL’s shot-stopper Dilawar became the show-stopper for KESC as he thwarted the league’s form team on numerous occasions in their 0-0 draw.

Buoyed by their previous results, KESC were looking for three more points in their last match here but the single point still helped them strengthen their position at the top of the table and they now have 21 points from nine games so far.

The point for HBL, meanwhile, was a welcome boost for the struggling side and they have five points after nine games of the season.

At the Korangi Baloch Ground here, Riaz Ahmed was the match-winner for PIA with his 83rd minute goal propelling his side to 11 points from seven matches.

Three goals in the space of 23 minutes helped PAF to victory over basement club Wohaib FC at the Railways Football Stadium in Lahore.

Irfan Ali opened the scoring in the 45th before Saleh Khan added a second in the 54th and Mohammad Mujahid rounded off the scoring fourteen minutes later to compound the misery for Wohaib who have just two points from five games.

Strugglers ZTBL, meanwhile, grabbed a vital point away to PMC in Faisalabad to move to four points from six games.

Friday’s fixture: Wapda v PAF (Railways Football Stadium, Lahore).
