LARKANA, Sept 27: The anti-polio campaign in Domki Mohalla of Union Council-6, Larkana City, had to be suspended on Thursday when a female health worker was harassed and the official in charge of the team beaten up by some youths.

Larkana District Health Officer Dr Abdul Fatah Bughio said that the official in charge of the team, Dr Noorudin Qazi, was beaten up by the youths, who also harassed a female member of his team in the area.

“The campaign to administer polio drops was temporarily suspended and the matter was conveyed to the Larkana police chief, SSP and the Haidri police station,” Dr Bughio said.

It was the fourth ‘catch-up day’, meant to cover left out children, he said, adding that the team would resume the work on Friday.—BoC
