Muslim protesters torch Buddhist temples, homes in Bangladesh

BANGLADESH: Hundreds of Muslims in Bangladesh burned at least four Buddhist temples and 15 homes of Buddhists on Sunday after complaining that a Buddhist man had insulted Islam, police and residents said.
Members of the Buddhist minority in the Cox’s Bazar area in the southeast of the country said unidentified people were bent on upsetting peaceful relations between Muslims and Buddhists.
Muslims took to the streets in the area late on Saturday to protest against what they said was a photograph posted on Facebook that insulted Islam.
The protesters said the picture had been posted by a Buddhist and they marched to Buddhist villages and set fire to temples and houses.
Police said they had deployed extra security forces and banned gatherings in Buddhist-dominated areas.
“We brought the situation under control before dawn and imposed restrictions on public gatherings,” said Salim Mohammad Jahangir, Cox’s Bazaar district police superintendent.
Many people in predominantly Muslim Bangladesh have been angered in recent days by a film made in California that mocks the Prophet Mohammad.
Muslims in Bangladesh and beyond have also been outraged by violence over the border in Myanmar where members of the majority Buddhist community clashed with minority Muslims this year.
Police had escorted the man accused of posting the insulting photograph and his mother to safety, Jahangir said.
Sohel Sarwar Kajal, the Muslim head of the council in the area where the arson took place, said he was trying to restore communal peace.
“We are doing everything possible to quell tension and restore peace between the communities,” he told reporters.

I have read the Old and New Testaments and the Qur’an. The OT advocates the complete extermination of the non-Gentile races by the Chosen People Race. This is a command from their G-d called YEHWEY [Actually Y-HW-Y, as there are no vowels in original Hebrew]
The NT commands complete conversion of all people to the Pauline Church. This is the command of their god the son and his Father who lives in Heaven. People remaining unconverted by the end of times will be exterminated by the sword of the son of god Lord Christ Jesus personally.
Allah in the Qur’an is Most Merciful and Most forgiving. I did not see any contradictions in the Qur’an but very many in the OT and NT. However, there are ‘Self-Defense’ mandates in the Qur’an which I have found are often used out of context in Internet web-sites to prove that Islam is violent. It is NOT. It is peaceful, defensive, but does not submit or surrender to any one but Allah. This is the cause of misunderstandings of those who try to fight and subdue it.
I am a Hindu. Now seriously studying the Abrahamic Religions, specially Islam and can answer any questions allowed here, better than most Muslims who may not have read the Qur’an. There is no compulsion in religion in Islam. Muslims are not allowed to abuse any one or even use harsh language or loud or abusive words, not even in every day speech.

That’s how the muslims, the followers of a “PEACEFUL” religion do. Their behavior is so honorable!!! If a religion or god fit the values of the time and the society, it does not need to use fear to stay alive. No matter how superior your religion you claim, your behavior actually tells the quality of your religion you follow.

I think unless Muslims don’t take extreme measures the infidels will continue to insult Islam, this may seem rude to some but is the only way to stop infidels from attacking Islam.

This is the reason there is Islamophobia in the world as no country wants Muslim immigrants in their county. If they are in minority, they demand all the privileges and when they are in majority they deny all the privileges to non Muslims. Unlike Muslims, let us how many Buddhist will protest the burning Buddhist temple around the world.

What if the islamic nations were leading the world, calling the shots at the turn of the century? only the tolerance and greatness can eradicate all the crisis. Let us remember again “Tit for Tat” is not the only and acceptable method to solve or, overcome the crisis. It needs a sharp decision not an aggression.
How is this even tit for tat? The response was clearly unwarranted and disproportionate. How are other Buddhists responsible for actions committed allegedly by one man? Imagine if believers of other religions started acting this way towards the Muslims living in the countries where Muslims are a minority.

The reaction was more to do with the recent slaughter of 90,000 Muslims in Burma , a Buddhist country, by peace loving Buddhist. Just type Muslim Rohingyas massacre in Google and you will see some images of the so called peacefull peoples violent side

I do not believe Islam is really a religion of peace. Anybody who has read the translation of Quran from cover to cover, knows that.
I have read the Quran cover to cover. Found nothing but peace. The only permissible acts of violence are for self-defense when your life is in danger. Or, there is historical content, about a specific event in time, that NO LONGER applies today. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.
Let us not worry about these things! Allah sees everything and knows everything. So why worry? Let us leave the job of fixing all problems to Him.
I dont know what your talking about. I have read the Quran, the old Testment and the new Testament cover to cover a few hundred times. All these book failed to inspire me. Both the Quran and the Old Testament read like a war journal and there is nothing about peace in both of these books. The New Testament is all about rebellion without violence . The books were written over long periods of time all of them ovelap and full of contradictions. All of us are indoctrinated in some religion or the other because it is societal norm but to kill and destroy on the basis of these religious teachings is beyond ignorant. And with all due respect to all I am getting sick and tired of holier than thou attitudes of all religious fanatics. Please do not tell me what Allah/God/Bhagwan wants or says. You do not have a direct line to him/her/it Try to be a human being first. It is really hard work.

Just Google down or search youtube, one can find hundreds if not thousands of videos openly abusing Hindu gods..Is It that difficult for Muslims to understand that the one can get respect only when he learn to respect..
Whatever was posed on Facebook was the fake pictures, any sensible person can not rely on the Facebook pictures and authenticity of the pictures. Yes there would be some incident in Mynamar but no upto that limit.
This happens in all muslim dominated country . Nothing new .
