India clashes with Pakistan at UN

UNITED NATIONS: India’s external affairs minister took on Pakistan at the United Nations on Monday for raising the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir.
S. M. Krishna told the General Assembly that India has resumed dialogue with Pakistan and wants to normalise relations.
But he lashed out at a speech last week by President Asif Ali Zardarif, saying the neighboring nation had no business meddling in India’s predominantly Muslim state of Jammu and Kashmir, which India claims as sovereign territory.
”An unwarranted reference has been made to Jammu and Kashmir from this podium,” he said, adding, ”We wish to make it abundantly clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.”
Zardari said in his speech that Kashmir remained ”a symbol of the failures of the United Nations system rather than its strengths.” He said a solution could only be reached in an ”environment of cooperation.”
As the annual high-level meeting of the General Assembly wound down on Monday night, representatives of India and Pakistan traded several rounds of rebuttals before a mostly empty chamber.
A violent separatist insurgency that started in 1989 drew a crackdown by Indian forces that has killed about 68,000 people in Kashmir, where public resentment against Indian rule runs deep.
The rebellion is largely suppressed, with occasional flare-ups. The Indian army said last week that a fierce gunbattle killed a suspected rebel and a soldier.
Earlier this month, Indian police arrested Merajuddin Wani, one of the longest-surviving rebel commanders in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

So much to amman ki asha……i don’t think their can be any peace between India and Pakistan
Peace has to be the ultimate solution. The problem is, we can not go far in the race of arms and weapons.. We need to take rational measures. South Asia needs a stable environment..
this is time for azad balochistan
millions of balochi disappear
no humanright act in pakistan
jago azadi is not far
azadi is waitin balochi people
media also hiding story and coverage of balochi people killing
azad balochistan zindabad
Salim, total population of Baluchistan is around 8 million. out of that, 60% are baluchis. If Millions have been killed, how many baluch are left then.
Are you really a baluchi or some one from East.
PAKISTAN ZINDABAD.
Janaan excellent reply to Salim. I wonder what Salim has to say on this ????????
Yes.
Mr. Zardari should understand that after 68 years UN has no more roll in Kasmir , dialouge between India & Pakistan is the only way to resolve the issue.
He was referring to the UNs failures over the past 60 years on issues such as this. As far as Kashmir is concerned now, I don’t think the current government intends to pursue UN on the issue.
True.
both sides are running their mouth to please the public. Shame on such leaders that prime to fool their public instead of actually doing something to help.
its really a strong statement given by indian FM, nd i guess not a new one.india is very clear on its stand from the day one.kashimir issue is raised by president zardari seeing to the general election which is coming , nd he knew that he hsnt done much fr the ppl of pakistan so he gave such statement to get his vote bank alive.
Good move by both the sides because the elections are coming up. President’s party is using its old game for the vote banks and the same game is being played on the Indian side, and common men like us on both sides of the border are being fooled into believing that our governments care for their country and its interests. After elections, all this will be forgotten. Mark my words.
well said…..so true
very right
Very True
true
Very true statement of facts. It means that Zardari should not have brought up this issue in his UN speech and krishna should not have reacted so badly, but then how else can they score points!
this not India where RSS, BJP, Congress can flirt only oceans of election to waste minority of 160 millions of India here whole situation is different pls don’t bark over here and don’t give your word in over tones, if the Indian are so much confident why not they with draw there force and they can send there army to un peace mission why not having kashmiries chance for UN peace mission for vote of self determination.
Kudous to Zardari…even Musharaf was afraid to make the stance on Kashmir…
Mr Morad be reminded that religion can not be basis of any nation. It can not sustain its independence.Pakistan has been a victim already and may be again……
“The two most important aspects of history are the good or poor administration of wars and public affairs.”
GIBBON
A religion has no administration that can run a country’s day to day business.
You standing for public office or something?
Religion should not be a doctrine to rule a nation because nation normally has many variety of people with different ideas, religions, and interests.
No nation should be guided by the religious philosophy – religion is for self not enforcing on others.
Sadly, two nations on this earth were created solely on the basis of religion. Israel and Pakistan. Enough said
what about hindustan….
India has many religions. Although hindus are in the majority the minority religions are not disappearing, unlike in Pakistan.
The basis was mutually agreed upon by India and Pakistan duly supervised by the British. India reneged on it as also the UN Resolutions therafter.
Well my friend please study the Islam and you will change your opinion.
We do not want to study any books. Watching the actions of the followers is enough for us
Followers or supposed followers?
Well done Zardari… Kashmir is disputed territory and India has no claim on it against the will of Kashmiri people.
Well…the same applies to Baluchistan..eh!
After the partition of India Baluchistan chose to be with Pakistan and was not forced to therefore its is not disputed territory whereas the same can not be said for Kashmir.
Mr.Khan
You need to read correct history not the one in your syllabus.
Wondering how the title of this news is “India Clashes with pakistan”
The author wanted to write about the clash in T20. He just got distracted.
When you repeat a lie again and again truth comes out.Same applies to India. If Kashmir is an integral part of India, then what are seven lakh Indian troops(Army),Intelligence agencies,Paramilitary forces doing in Kashmir?
Reality is India cannot controle Kashmir without Army and India knows this well.Let us wait.Kashmir can change overnight and the whole region will crumble under the weight and anger which Kashmir possess.India is playing a dangerous game.History teaches everything.
Please continue to wait….. Take care of Baluchistan and Sind !!!!! if religion was to be the only rationale, why Bangladesh separated ????
He is right it is army and ISI creating problems….
Public resentment or Pakistans resentment ???
Hence forward Pakistan should be very very cautious on how it handles Kashmir solution …. as there are chances of loosing Balochistan now … leave alone POK..
Pakistan will lose Balochistan because those people are willing to fight. When people in a section of the country are lost to right wing paramilitary death squads the state usually is the loser. That is the usual result. People will stand up and fight injustice. Why should they be afraid if they are to be butchered either way?
