ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected property tycoon Malik Riaz’s plea, in which he had requested the apex court to stop the proceedings of the commission, led by Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Shoaib Suddle to investigate the  graft scandal involving  Riaz and the Chief Justice’s son Arsalan Iftikhar, DawnNews reported.

A two-member bench consisting of Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif heard review petition of Malik Riaz.

Riaz’s Attorney Zahid Bukhari said that forming a commission over the case between two individual was unprecedented in the judicial history.

Bukhari said that his client appealed to the apex court because he felt that the court orders were not being implemented properly.

He pleaded that a stay order should be issued against the commission.

The apex court said that it can not issue stay order without listening the point of view of other parties to the case.

The court issued notices to all the parties to the case to present their statements before the SC and adjourned the hearing until October 30.

The apex court had formed one man commission constituting Shoaib Suddle on August 30 after granting the appeal filed by Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Malik Riaz submitted an appeal to the SC on Sept 11 to review the formation of the commission. Bukhari claimed that the ‘Shoaib Suddle commission’ was formed without his client’s consultation.

COMMENTS

  1. Biased judiciary

    • Not a Biased Judiciary. First look at Malik Riaz and off line film on TV channel and then decide honestly.

  2. Munir from Sacramento usa

Why do you ask for comments on Supreme court decisions? They are to be obeyed only or to be appealed against.

  3. Unprecedented cases and unprecedented decisions.

  4. The next date of hearing has been fixed as 30 October 2012. Suddle commission is expected to complete its inquiry and submit the report before that.

  5. What a laughing stock – one man commission. Do you think that judges of supreme court will not favour the son of Chief Justice when the judges are from the same stock where all others including our politicians come from.

    • This is your false assumption. First look at the Malik Riaz and then comment on judges. Sc has given more than month to govt to investigate the case but they wasted time. If you donot know the law, please dont judge the judges in your own way. It is all part of govet and ex govt’s plan to defame CJ of SC.

  6. unprecedented cases&unprecedented decisions.

  7. SC is trying to save their crown prince. What a judicial system in Pakistan. When it comes their home on the way they put socalled containers to block the roads to justice. All unfortunate for the country.
