LAHORE, Oct 1: President Zardari’s Coordinator in Punjab Navid Chaudhry has alleged the PML-N government in the province has created a special cell in Model Town to target the PPP.

“The Punjab government has shifted some DGPR officials to the 9th floor of Arfa Karim IT centre near the Sharifs’ residence in Model Town and the latest IRI survey is in fact their product,” Chaudhry told a press conference here on Monday.

He alleged Information Secretary Muhayuddin Wani was the public relations officer of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and now he was supervising the PML-N cell. He said the cell was working hard to give an impression in the media that the PPP had been written off in Punjab.

Navid Chaudhry said the PPP’s runaway leaders like Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Sanaullah and Raja Anwar were also active in the cell. He said there had been division in the PML-N ranks because of these leaders.

“Today Hamza Shahbaz, Mariam Nawaz and Capt Safdar (retired) have grouping in the PML-N and before the coming elections the cracks in the Sharifs’ party will be very much visible,” he said.

Lashing out at Punjab government’s different development projects, the PPP leaders said the metro bus system would cost the exchequer over Rs100 billion while the annual provincial budget on health was just Rs56 billion. He said the people being affected from this project were cursing the government.

He said 5,700 schools had been closed in Punjab owing of lack of interest by the Shahbaz government while billions were being spent on a few Daanish schools. The Punjab government was also spending millions on its projection, he said.

Navid Chaudhry said he would present the proof of the government’s corruption in the Ring Road and other projects to the media. He said the PML-N was going to be a ‘baby’ of the establishment. — Staff Reporter
