ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: The National Bank of Pakistan Tennis Championship will be played here at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Complex from Oct 15.
The weeklong championship will feature players in different categories including men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, boys’ U-18 and boys’ U-14.Talking to Dawn, Subh-e-Nau chairperson Shahida Farooq Sattar said: “Earlier, we had to postpone the event due to surprise change in Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) rules for holding a national championship which made things difficult for us.”
The Subh-e-Nau chairperson said that they were thankful to the PTF for allowing them to host the event in line with old rules.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTF had changed its rules with regard to holding the national championships making it tough for bodies like Subh-e-Nau to hold national championship since it hold such events without any support from the federationShe further said that prize money for the tournament will be Rs200,000 which will be distributed among players as per International Tennis Federation (ITF) rules. “Daily allowance will also be paid to all outstation players,” added Shahida.
Interested players can send their entries latest by Oct 14 to Subh-e-Nau or the PTF offices. Finals of the championship will be played on Oct 21.
