LAHORE:  In its second year now, the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week has become a platform which defines and presents contemporary and traditional bridal fashion along with make-up trends.(Click here to see photos from the show)

A total of 13 designers and four make-up artists will feature on four days, with each day hosting an exclusive style/trend show in collaboration with one fashion designer by the respective make-up artist for that day.

Silver, cut-glass candelabras added a sparkle to the pitch-black stage settings on day two as Maram Aabroo together with designer Zara Shahjahan opened the stylist show that featured a show reel with Iman Ali followed by lantern-bearing models in bridal finery featuring designs by Zara Shahjehan in a blaze of ivory, turquoise, shocking pink, black and of course classic red denoting the designer’s choice of colours for the coming bridal season.

Asifa & Nabeel showed complementing bride and groom wear in pastel shades and zari work fused with resham thread embroidery in fantastic eastern and fusion cuts and silhouettes. The designer duo introduced a vibrant shade of blue into the bridal colour palette and played it with flesh pink.

Dark green menswear embellished with self print gold patti and worn over classic churidars by Mohammed Mubarak also stood out in this segment as did an ivory and gold sherwani. The styling of all the male models was by Khawar Riaz.

Even the cricket match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka could not hold back fashionistas from attending the event and in recognition of the fact that many were desperate for a score update of the crucial match, updates were provided at regular intervals.

Teena by newcomer Hina Butt presented Ode to Sophia that drew design inspiration from the Baroque time period, its artwork and architecture, with asymmetrical cuts in fabrics including chiffon and colours green, ivory, pastel pink and red. Here, richly embellished outfits with diamantes and white stone work with dark green appliqué work on sheer, light fabric set off the mood for bridals with pink silk edgings and beige on orange saris as well. Dark green and ivory-gold jackets for men completed the collection.

Ali Xeeshan dedicated his collection to pioneers Ather & Shahzad for their extensive work in fashion. He showed multi-colour pieces thrown together with an ivory base for bridals with a slight redefinition in groom wear. The collection was a fusion of various design elements that uncannily seemed to work and in doing this he put forth a collection that screamed of creativity in design.

Day three will feature Elan, Layla Chatoor and Nickie Nina with hair and make-up by Toni&Guy with Mohsin Ali for the trends show.
