LAHORE, Oct 6: A water rocket competition turned out to be the most popular event in a fabulous family fair at Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park organised by Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC) Lahore in collaboration with SUPARCO on Saturday.

Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is organising different events as part of weeklong celebrations of World Space Week in different cities of the country.

There was a healthy turnout of students, teachers as well as parents in the event. Water rockets were fired and demonstrated to the audience and sky gazing was also arranged for the visitors.

Besides other activities, continuous movie shows were also held, disseminating space-related information and documentaries. A space fancy dress show attracted a lot of participants consisting mainly of children from KG up to class II.

Winners shall be presented with telescopes on Oct 10. Similar activities are being held at other national space centres and universities in Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar. --APP
