Varsha Bhosle, daughter of playback singer Asha Bhosle, committed suicide at their residence on Monday. Varsha, 56, shot herself in the head, police said.

Police have arrived on the spot and are investigating. No suicide note has been found from the spot yet. According to police, Varsha pumped two rounds into herself. According to a report in Times of India.

The entire area has been cordoned off and people are being restricted from going near the place. A flat in the building is also occupied by Asha's elder sister and singing legend Lata Mangeshkar.

Varsha, who worked as a freelance journalist, was divorced and had also tried to commit suicide in 2008 and 2010 by consuming a heavy dose of sleeping pills. She was, however, immediately taken to the hospital and saved.

Varsha stayed with her mother, who is currently attending a function in Singapore.
