KOHAT, Oct 9: Two children were killed and one was seriously injured in a hand grenade blast here on Tuesday.

The children were playing with the hand grenade when it exploded with a bang in a street in College Town. Police said that the children had found the hand grenade in the street.

The children, who died in the blast, were identified as Tahir and Zakir while Reshma Bibi was injured. The victims of the blast were taken to KDA hospital by volunteers.

IMPOSTER HELD: Police claimed to have arrested an imposter, disguised as an army officer, who was deceiving people in the name of providing jobs to them in Anti-Narcotics Force.

Police got information that a fake army major was getting huge amount of money from people, promising to appoint them in ANF on different posts.

ASP Kashif Aslam, disguised as a jobless person, raided a guesthouse in KDA Township where the fake army officer was ‘interviewing’ people for different posts. The ASP also paid Rs500 to the ‘secretary’ of the impersonator to call him for an early interview.

Police arrested him red handed and recovered hundreds of official stamps, 11 cellular phone sets, 13 different army visiting cards and arms from his house in Ustarzai Bala area. Police have registered a case against the impersonator identified as Fawad Hussain.

ROADS: Delay in construction of Kohat-Hangu and Kacha Pakha roads has become a permanent nuisance for the people of the area.

Former chief justice of Peshawar High Court Syed Ibne Ali said in a statement here on Tuesday that Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti had directed National Highway Authority during his last visit to Kohat to complete the roads by September 2012, but despite that the contactor was delaying the work.

He said that he submitted an application with the district and sessions judge in that regard and the court ordered early completion of the project. The court ordered the contractor to work on small portions without uprooting the whole road, but the NHA authorities did not pay any heed to the directives, he added.
