PESHAWAR, Oct 9: The Pakistan people’s Party has dissolved the provincial and district Peshawar cabinets of the party and announced names of the new office-bearers.

The decision was taken at a closed-door meeting at the residence of the newly nominated provincial president, Anwar Saifullah Khan, here on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by some of the senior leaders including health minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Syed Ayub Shah, Zulfiqar Afghani, Azam Afridi, Yawar Naseer,Tahir Abbas, MPA Anwar Khan and Haji Sharif. However, the rest of newly nominated office bearers did not attend the meeting.

The provincial president made it clear that PPP would field candidates on maximum seats in the province, however, he added, it could also enter seat adjustment agreements with different political parties.

“I have decided to re-organise the party in the province to remove differences among the party people,” he vowed. On the occasion, a source privy to the meeting said that maximum number of the participants opposed nomination of ministers as general secretary and information secretary but even then they were assigned the duties.

Mr Saifullah asked the party workers to step up their efforts for strengthening the party so that it could win maximum number of the seats in the next general elections and form government in the province.

Provincial finance minister Mohammad Humayun Khan was nominated as the provincial general secretary, MPA Abdul Akbar Khan, former MNA Azam Afridi as senior vice-presidents, Shamroz Khan Jadoon as provincial deputy general secretary, minister for excise and taxation Liaquat Shabab as secretary information, Haji Sharif as secretary finance, Syed Ayub Shah as coordination secretary, Bara Mand Tangi as secretary record, Mashal Khan as secretary People’s House and Saeed Khan as adviser to the provincial president.

Similarly, Zulfiqar Afghani was named as Peshawar city president, Akbar Khan general secretary. The rest of offices will be filled with mutual consultation within the next 10 days.

Meanwhile, MNA Faryal Talpur has named Ijaz Ali Khan Yousufzai as president people’s youth organisation Khyber Pakhtunkwa for a period of one year. He was advised to announce all the subordinate bodies with prior permission from Ms Faryal Talpur. — Bureau Report
