TIMERGARA, Oct 10: The provincial government would spend Rs4 billion to improve education sector during the next three years, said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Education Sardar Hussain Babak.

Accords had been inked with the donors for the purpose, he said while addressing a function at Bacha Khan Model School at Jandol on Wednesday. The function was attended by parents, students, teachers, notables of the area and workers of Awami National Party.

Provincial Minister for Livestock Haji Hidayatullah, principal school of the school Mohammad Israr, ANP district president Hussain Shah Yousafzai and others also spoke on the occasion.

Condemning attack on the life of Malala Yousafzai, Mr Babak said that terrorists had no religion and values. He said that terrorists would not succeed to silence the voice of Malala Yousafzai.

The minister said that five more Bacha Khan Model schools would be opened in other districts of the province. He said that the government had taken several steps for promotion of teachers.

Mr Babak said that setting up of eight universities in the province was a proof that they loved education, peace and prosperity. If militants damaged a school, the government would build 100 more schools in reaction to the attack, he said.

Criticising Jamaat-i-Islami, the minister said that owing to its acts JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was even not ready to form alliance with it. He said that JI was uprooted from Buner district and it would also meet with the same fate in Dir.

Meanwhile, prizes were distributed among those students, who topped their respective schools in the annual examinations of class 9th and 10th.

In this regard, two separate functions were held for boy and girl students at Bacha Khan Model School Jandol and Government High School for Girls Timergara respectively. The functions were jointly arranged by Malakand Development Programme (MDP) and education department.

Each position holder was awarded a digital dictionary and certificate on the occasion.

GAMES: The 10-day annual sports, quiz and athletic competitions among government high and higher secondary schools in Dir Lower would start from Oct 15. The decision in this regard was taken during a meeting held here on Wednesday with district games secretary Khaizar Hayat in the chair. All heads of high and higher secondary schools were present on the occasion.

More than 110 government and private schools will take part in these competitions. The regional games would be held after Eidul Azha while provincial games would be started in Mardan from Dec 2.
