ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Around 250 civil society activists and workers of political parties staged a protest against the attack on Malala Yousafzai. Participants also marched from National Press Club to F-6 Markaz.
Civil society activists Jameel Abbasi, Ghazala Minallah, Farzana Bari, Fauzia Saeed, Hasan Nasir and a large number of children on Wednesday evening gathered outside the press club and started chanting slogans against the attack on Malala.
Jameel Abbasi said that whole nation has been condemning the cowardly act of Taliban. He urged the state to take immediate action against the culprits and protect all children, especially the children who raised their voice against injustice.
“We want immediate cessation of terrorism around education and learning sites and places where our defence should be more effective and fool proof,” he said.
Other speakers termed it a cowardly attempt and said that civil society would continue struggle for the development and increase in literacy rate of the country.
They demanded of the government to arrest the culprits and assure that in future that sort of incidents would not take place. Later, protesters, holding banners and placards, marched from National Press Club to F-6 Markaz and then dispersed.
In Chakwal, a protest rally organised by Awami Party was held in Talagang. Led by Awami Party’s Punjab president Ayub Malik the rally was attended by the scores of citizens.
The protesters chanted slogans against Taliban and prayed for the recovery of Malala Speaking at the occasion, Ayub Malik, termed the brutal attack on Malala as an attack on the humanity and all types of civilizations.
Lashing out at Talibans he said that the enemies of humanity and Islam must be dealt with iron hands. Meanwhile, in Chakwal the lawyers observed a complete strike to protest attack on Malala. They condemned the brutal incident and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers.
