KARACHI, Oct 11: The Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) during first quarter (July-Sept) of current fiscal collected Rs1.650 billion as old age benefit contribution and disbursed a record amount of Rs1.075 billion during September 2012 alone.

This was stated by EOBI chairman Zafar Iqbal Gondal during a meeting of its officials on Thursday. Gondal expressed his satisfaction and said that EOBI has started disbursement of pension through mobile banking Easypaisa. Through this fast track service EOBI aims to make lives easier for our old age, disabled and widow pensioners, he said.He urged the EOBI pensioners to register themselves at the nearest Telenor franchise, Telenor sales and service centers or Tameer Micro Finance Bank branches along with their EOBI pension book and original CNIC.

Chairman EOBI also directed the concerned officials to process all pension claims of effected workers and their families of M/s Ali Enterprise in a week. EOBI DG (Operations) Javed Iqbal briefed the meeting that EOBI has so far registered 86,725 employers, 5,184,983 employees and approved 448,097 pension claims since inception of the scheme.
