KARACHI: Four people were killed and nine injured in incidents of violence across the city, whereas four others were arrested in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Sir Syed Town for their alleged involvement in sectarian target killings in the city, DawnNews reported on Friday.

A High Court lawyer was injured on the way to Gurumandir from Nazimabad when unknown assailants opened fire on him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition was reported to be critical.

In a separate incident in Gulzar-i-Hijri, unknown gunmen opened fire upon a hotel in the area, injuring seven people. Two of the wounded were reported dead on arrival at the hospital. The police said that the incident was a result of a personal dispute.

One person was killed and another injured when unknown assailants opened fire on them near the New Karachi Power House.

In another incident, one person was shot dead on Kharadar Road in the Baghdadi area.

Two people were injured in firing incidents in Landhi’s Future Mor area and at the Quaidabad Bridge.

On the other hand, police and agencies conducted a raid in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area and arrested three persons suspected of involvement in sectarian targeted killings. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from the arrested suspects.

Another suspected target killer was also arrested from Sir Syed Town area of the city.
