WE may lose Malala Yousufzai if we do not send her to Dubai or the UK immediately. I am an ex-army doctor. We, in the armed forces, look after all very healthy people and rarely come across complicated injuries except in wartime.

So the armed forces doctors are not very proficient in complicated injury cases in peacetime. With due respect to all, as an ex-Army Medical Corps doctor, I would request our senior AMC command not to make it a matter of ego and send Malala somewhere where she can be treated better.

We lost Arfa Karim, the world’s youngest certified IT specialist at that time, a few months ago in CMH, Lahore. She had met Bill Gates who praised her after being certified. Later, he also offered to foot the bill for her medical treatment but our AMC officers never sent her out of Pakistan to a better medical centre.

Here we are dilly-dallying on Malala’s treatment, who has been offered an air ambulance by none other than the US president, the most powerful person on the Earth.

Moses for Pharaoh

THOUSANDS of years ago, there was a ruler who started killing innocent children in Egypt. He was Pharaoh. Moses came and defeated that cruel ruler. Now a minor girl was targeted by followers of that cruel ruler. Who will follow in the footsteps of Moses?.

Funding for terrorists

THE nation bleeds and weeps for Malala, the brave teenager who stood up to the wrath of the Taliban and fought for justice and the education of girls in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There is no nation in the world that would support what the home-grown terrorists have done.

The act has been condemned by every nation. It has aroused the conscience of the world and demonstrated that Pakistan is a far bigger target of the terrorists than any other country including Afghanistan. It has certainly shaken up the military that has vowed to finally smash the stronghold of the radical fanatics.

While the army and air force will do their bit, it is inexplicable why the Pakistan establishment has not taken any action against the people who are funding these terrorists. Surely military intelligence and the ISI, assuming they are two different entities, know the identity of the rascals who are causing this mischief. Even the man in the street has his suspicions. Meanwhile, the imams in mosques and the priests in the churches are praying for the recovery of this brave girl who defied the odds in a grossly intolerant and retrogressive society.

Nobel prize

THE whole world has eulogised the gallantry displayed by Malala Yousufzai in the face of militancy and obscurantism in Swat.

The internatonal media has given full coverage to the tragic episode of attack on her life.

However, much more needs to be done to recognise extraordinary efforts of the teenager epitomising soft and liberal image of Pukhtuns, in particular, and Pakistanis, in general.

I suggest and recommend that she be bestowed upon with the Nobel peace prize for her indefatigable efforts for peace and education in militant-infested area despite all odds.

COMMENTS

  1. why our governments always act on delay tacts, though Malala could have been shifted at the start abroad for treatment and why she left to die at the hands of Pakistani doctors who only thinks to earn money and never care for lives ???????????

  2. I appreciate Mr.Khalid Butt’s advice for sending Malala abroad for treatment. I have a very bitter experience of Military Hospital in Pakistan.Just to double confirm a visit of PNS Shifa Karachi will open your eye forever.Air ambulance is already in Islamabad and an immedaite shifting her to USA will definitely save her life.

  3. I totally agree with Dr. Butt.

  4. Instead of leaving this decision to doctors, Zardari should order to send Malala to USA for treatment, just like he did that for himself.

  5. Md. Shariful Islam

Please Help Malala to survive. Forget everything and do the right thing without wasting time. The world wants her voices to be heard.

  6. I think the army hospital is well Ecquip. There are so many physician and surgeon of Pakistan origin working at USA.Why not to take opinion of these our national Dr for who we are proud of them rather sending Malala a broad.

  7. Let her bravery ignites every children of this sub continent . The ignorant will be defeated one day so that the humanity prevails.Let us pray for her speedy recovery.

    • It now is in doubt she will fully recover. She is stable and is doing OK where she is. The army doctors are in touch with leading specialists and neurosurgeons. When she is stronger she will need a rehabilitation hospital more than any other kind. A great deal of her memory will be gone. She will need to relearn many things.
      Just hoping for a miracle.

  8. What talibans have done is a an attempt to destroy Islam, muslims, and Pakistan. It’s a wake-up call for the entire muslim world. And it requires a thorough understanding of why muslims are there today, and what should be done to overcome it. It’s the job of just not you and me, but of every one in the entire muslim world. It’s a challenge that we must meet to ensure our very existence as muslims.

  9. As long as Pakistan Military establishment is enjoying supremacy over its elected governments, there is no scope for ending terrorist activities in Pakistan, unlike other democratic countries, Military establishment in Pakistan has been encouraging terrorism with a vested interest to retain its grip in every sphere of administration and to enjoy the power and wealth at the cost of common people of Pakistan.

  10. In continuation of what Dr. Khalid Butt wrote, I may add that if it wasn’t a matter of ego the army would have accepted the ambulance from the President Obama, and sent her to the USA, and not mention the offer of the ambulance from UAE (which came later) with the intention to send her there. The USA has the best hospitals in the world. Any doubt about that? Further more, that amounts to playing with the life of Malala! If there is one word that explains the cause of ALL of our problems, embarrassements, failures in the country, it is VANITY (especially the Army’s vanity)

  11. @ Khalid Butt.
He is also killing large number of innocent people with his drones.

  12. I fully agree with Dr. Butt about not letting military doctors treat Malala. For God sake, military doctors are for a specific purpose and dont expect military’s strong discipline compensate for lack of technical skills. Treatment by civilian doctors in private hospitals or sending her abroad were better options. I pray to Allah to give the young girl good health.

  13. Now the terrorists are intending to target the International and national media for full coverage of the attempt on the life of Malala. Now the time has come to eliminate all the fanatical talebans from this world.

  14. Mr. Mooraj – I’m sure the priests in the Hindu temples are also praying for the recovery of Malala. Please enlighten us with your suspicions though.

    • I agree with the advice of ex-army doctor in favour of Malala. She should be sent abroad for medical treatment and full recovery.Who knows we may expect many more good deeds from her life?
