QEUTTA: Two unidentified armed assailants and a Levies Force personnel deployed outside a provincial minister’s house in Quetta have been killed in exchange of fire on Monday night.

Police sources said that unknown attackers came at the residence of provincial minister Asfandyar Kakar in Chaman Housing Scheme and opened indiscriminate fire at the house.

“The Levies Force personnel deployed at the minister house for security received bullet injuries, however, he retaliated the firing that killed both assailants,” police said.

The police rushed to the site and shifted the injured security guard and dead bodies of the two assailants to civil hospital. Later, the wounded guard was taken to combined military hospital due to his serious condition. The hospital sources said that the injured guard has succumbed to his injuries.

The police said that it could not immediately ascertain what caused the attack. The police have been looking into the incident.

It is pertinent to mention here the Provincial Minister for Food Asfandyar Kakar belonged to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Meanwhile, nine others were killed in different incidents of violence in the provincial capital on Monday, DawnNews reported.
