QUETTA, Oct 19: Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi said on Friday the provincial government had been asked to file a review petition in the Supreme Court against its interim order on the law and order situation in the province.
Talking to a delegation of the Media Action Committee (MAC), he said that maintenance of law and order was the responsibility of the provincial government and the situation in Balochistan was not satisfactory.
MAC Chairman Shahzada Zulfiqar led the delegation.
Mr Magsi was hopeful elections in the province would be free of violence, saying participation of the political groups that boycotted the 2008 polls would have a positive impact.
The governor said he was not assigned the task of holding talks with the estranged Baloch leaders. He assured the delegation that problems of journalists would be discussed with the federal government and the provincial government would be directed to provide security to them.—Correspondent
