ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that funds of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were utilized through a transparent manner.

Around Rs five billion budget of Information Ministry was reflected in national budget and subjected to audit and published in documents, he added.

He dispelled the impression that funds were given to certain journalists to seek their favour, saying “I have never given money to any journalist for buying his loyalty.”

Kaira said that he would quit politics if a single penny was proved to be given to any journalists for buying his or her loyalty.

He said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is committed to resolving masses' problems at their doorstep.

Talking to a private TV channel last night, he said PPP which enjoyed popularity at grassroots level, was taking its allied parties on board with regard decisions on important national issues.

Answering a question, he said office of the President was political by all standards but its actions are neutral and impartial.

He said that President Asif Ali Zardari was a great leader who successfully handled the party affairs and moved forward after death of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

He said fake cases were made against President Asif Ali Zardari. He said PML-N leader also endorsed the fact that all cases against PPP were politically motivated. No charge against President Asif Ali Zardari could thus be proved, he added.

He said that PPP had always taken steps in the national interest, adding signing of gas agreement with Iran was a testimony to this fact.
