ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the FIR registered against a married Christian woman, who left her husband and eloped with another Christian man. Later converting to Islam and getting married.
The court issued notices to the station house officer of police station Shahzad Town and Mr Gilbert the complainant who lodged the FIR against the two.
As per details of the FIR, Gilbert on July 26, 2012 lodged a complaint against his wife Farzana Rani, Adnan her paramour, his sister-in -law Shehzadi and her husband Kala Masih.
In the FIR registered by Shahzad Town police, Gilbert alleged that his wife with the support of her sister Shehzadi had runaway with Adnan, in July 2012, while she was carrying gold ornaments worth Rs70,000.
IHC on Oct 18 on the petition of Shehzadi and her husband Kala Masih had already ordered the police to exclude their names from the FIR.
According to the petition Farzana and her husband Adnan, Farzana left her husband Gilbert to marry Adnan and wedded after embracing Islam on May 5, 2012.
He claimed that Gilbert provided false information and according to the FIR the woman escaped on July 17, but, in fact, as per the detail of their marriage certificate, the couple – Adnan and Farzana – had gotten married on May 5 and then started living in Sialkot.
He alleged that Farzana’s former husband wanted to blackmail the couple.
In the earlier hearing of an identical petition filed in the said case by Shehzadi and her husband Kala Masih to quash the FIR against them, Mujtaba Haider Sherazi, counsel for Gilbert adopted that how could a married woman marry another man? — A Reporter
