LAHORE: Pakistan won a gold medal amongst the 10 medals they ended up with in the Fourth Asian ju-jitsu Championship in the Iranian city of Kish that concluded on Sunday.

According to information received here, Pakistan fielded a four-member team at the event with the pair of Mohammad Ammar and Abu Hurairah winning the lone gold in the Duo System.

Two of Pakistan’s four silver medals were won by with Abu Hurairah (-62kg Fighting System), Mohammad Irfan (-77kg Fighting System) while the country’s only female representative, Sundas Islam Khan, won the other two in the -49kg Fighting System and -48 kg Belt Wrestling.

Abu Hurairah also won two bronze medals in the freestyle and classical categories of Belt Wrestling while Ammar grabbed the other three for Pakistan in -69 Kg Fighting System and classical and freestyle categories of Belt Wrestling.

The other participating countries were Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, India, Iraq, Vietnam and Afghanistan with over 150 players competing for the honours.
