Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in a scene from the film “Jab tak hai Jaan”

Jab tak hai Jaan, Yash Chopra’s last film, might not see a release in Pakistan. “The film may get banned in Pakistan because it involves Shahrukh Khan in an army operation in Kashmir.

According to TOI,  the trailer too has been stopped from being screened on various TV channels in Pakistan. The movie shows Khan as part of a bomb disposal squad in the Indian Army who is up to some serious action in Kashmir, which may be the reason it might be banned,” said a source. However, the film is yet to be presented to the Pak censor board.

Recently, Agent Vinod and Ek Tha Tiger were not cleared for screening in the country.

COMMENTS

  1. Pakistanis are okay with piracy but not with copycat movies :D

  2. Pakistanis – please read this article from dawn and judge for yourselves..

    http://dawn.com/2012/10/25/bollywood-has-an-immense-impact-on-our-lives/

  3. Is Hollywood or Bollywood closer to Pakistan ?

  4. We are countries who ban and put things under the carpet.

  5. Pakistan should permanent banned indian movies in Pakistan ,these movies do not reflect our culture

  6. From the total number of thumbs up and down…INDIANS WON THIS GREAT DEBATE :D

    • Ravindra, its our moral responsibility as a good neighbour to educate and uplift them from falling into the wrong path as we cannot choose our neighbours..its not about winning or loosing..we have had 3 wars already to prove it.

  7. I read the title of the news and instead of reading the article I scrolled down to comments section. Why? Because its always fun to see educated Bharteez and Pakistaniz spatting each others faces for no apparent reason.

BTW most of Hindi movies are inspired or copied from Hollywood movies which on the other hand are also inspired or copied from Asian movies (Chinese, Japanese, Korean…) and European movies.

Why don’t Hindi Filmmakers directly copy the films from Asian and European cinema? It would certainly make them competitor of their Hollywood counterpart.

Kudos to Holly and Bolly lol!

    • and do u have a film industry to be proud about ? ask ur parents and grandparents what they have grown up watching..Indian movies or pakistani movies

    • I really appreciate that u r watching movies so closely that u are giving expert opinion on the source of the movie…Why don’t you try something and come up in ur country so that we can too enjoy it? Before criticizing, learn to appreciate….u will be always happy that way….

  8. All Bollyood should be banned in India and Pakistan. They do not represent our values

  9. Films are something which Indians and Pakistanis share and enjoy..
Let us use binding agents not anger!

  10. Why this is a news in Pakistan. We Indian even don’t know any of Pakistani artist (unless they have worked in Any Indian film / music). It is a Indian film made for Indians. Whether you want to see or not it’s your choice only.

  11. Pakistan was made for Indian Muslims. What is the problem watching Shahrukh Khan dressed as an Indian army man?May I know why Indian Muslims living in Pakistan hate Indians?

  12. It looks like the copy of The Hurt Locker………………poor indians………:)

  13. Who cares !!!

  14. Whatever Pakistan decides is irrelevant. Why bother?

  15. jus watch the movie and enjoy it. who cares who you are, which country you are from and which religion you are from. life is too short to argue on those arrogant issues. it is jus the movie.

  16. Well done Pakistan. Enough of indian movies promoting Pakistan as evil and themselves as saints. WOnder if the Indian producers would make a film on Indian aggression in Kashmir. Guess not.

  17. Who cares..??
This is Indian movie primarily made for Indian audience. Cheers :)

  18. I think it’s quite pointless arguing over the censorship of a particular movie. As someone down below rightly pointed out, if anyone really wants to watch the movie, he/she can torrent it or stream it online. It is a fact that many Pakistanis actually enjoy movies from across the border. The reason behind this is that our own film industry has never had much success. Instead of criticizing Bollywood, we should be focusing on changing our film industry for the better. If this movie is censored, it will do no favors to our film industry because no one will go and watch Lollywood productions in any case. I think Khuda Kay Liye and Jinnah were the only movies that enjoyed success to a certain level in Pakistan. We need a revival!

  19. Hindi film industry does not make money because of pirated Hindi DVD movies and CDs are freely sold throughout Pakistan . Its simple economics guys . These movies are made keeping in mind the Indian audience . So , anything against Pakistan shown in these movies , is a big seller in India . Pakistanis are not even considered as paying audience thus very insignificant . Why do you think Hindi film industry should write scripts which are pro Pakistan ? As a matter of fact industry should try to prevent piracy and put anti-Pakistan contents to discourage them to watch even for free .

  20. Indians are getting really rude and offensive here o.O

  21. Pakistan and India should become good neibouring countries, it responsibilties of peoples of both sides to respect each other in order to live life peacfully. It just a three hours movie and nothing else.

  22. It is pakistan’s internal policy. A country had every right to do so. But such act is not good.

  23. All indian films should be banned without any rationale.
