Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an undercover spy or agent of an intelligence agency? How exciting it would be to have cool gadgets and save the world by defeating the bad guys?

Well, wonder no more! British writer Anthony Horowitz brings you all the suspense, action and thrill of being a teenage super spy working for MI6, the British intelligence agency, in his wildly popular Alex Rider series.

Alex Rider is just 14 years old and when his guardian and uncle, Ian Rider dies under suspicious circumstances, his life changes forever. Alex discovers that his uncle was not actually a bank vice-president like everybody thought, but a spy for the British government. Now MI6 wants Alex Rider to work for them and finish his uncle’s investigations into the case that had got him killed.

Because of his young age, the villains never suspect that Alex is actually a spy and that makes him a perfect agent. Armed with fantastic gadgets like an acne cream that can eat metal, a yo-yo that can help him climb rooftops and a Game Boy console that can fax/photocopy and X-ray documents, Alex goes inside enemy compounds under false identities. He discovers the nefarious plans of various criminals and puts an end to their evil schemes at great risk to his own life and limb.

On a personal level, Alex is quite a reluctant spy. All he wants is to go to school and be able to finish his homework in peace. He finds it difficult to adapt to his double life and keep up with his studies but when duty calls, he just can never say ‘No’. He is extremely athletic, has a black belt in karate, knows several languages and above all, he is very resourceful, tenacious and quick-witted.

Nine books of Alex Rider series have so far been published. Stormbreaker is the first book of the series followed by Point Blanc, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel, Snakehead, Crocodile Tears and Scorpia Rising.

With thrilling adventures and exciting action sequences, these books will appeal to every child who dreams of being a spy or action hero. Extremely fast-paced, full of suspense and real page turners, books in the Alex Rider series will keep you completely engrossed till the last page. — Gulrukh Tausif
