LAHORE, Oct 25: Employees of the Pakistan Electric Power Company and the Tribal Electric Power Company will be paid one month’s additional basic pay as honorarium for Eidul Azha like their colleagues working in Discos, Genco and Wapda.

The Board of Directors of the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pvt) Ltd (Pepco) had granted approval and issued directions for the payment of honorarium, said Pakistan Wapda Hydro-Electric Central Labour Union Secretary-General Khurshid Ahmad on Thursday.

He said a decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of union representatives with Federal Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar and Federal Secretary Nargis Sethi.

Accordingly, Pepco Managing Director Shabbir Ahmad directed the lower formations to ensure payment to the staff in the shortest possible time, said Mr Ahmed.

He said both the minister and the secretary assured the union representatives that electricity workers would be provided adequate security in carrying out their duties for recovery of revenue from defaulters or consumers stealing power.
